Arapahoe County Civil Docket Searches
Pin down the court level and case class first. The free Colorado Judicial Docket Search shows public hearings, not a complete civil history. Set the filter to Arapahoe. Search by case number, date, party, attorney, or division. For broader statewide case data, the authorized CoCourts search is the paid channel. Parties with accepted access can also use Colorado Courts E-Filing. It is called CCE. It offers eligible case history and filed documents after opting in.
No luck online? Go look at the public file at a courthouse. Call 303-645-6600, email 18records@judicial.state.co.us, or send the state Record/Document Request Form. Those are the Arapahoe County civil docket channels the court itself documents.
The form asks for contact details, the court, the case number, which documents you want, and whether you need certification. Civil choices include an Order for Judgment, Transcript of Judgment, Satisfaction of Judgment, and protection order. A precise filing date or ROA entry helps staff pull the right item fast. Suppressed or protected material may cost extra time. Staff can demand photo ID and proof that you may receive it.
- Read the caption and copy the full case number, including CV or C.
- Search the Arapahoe hearing calendar for the next date and assigned room.
- Use CoCourts or an accepted CCE account for available case history.
- Request an ROA first if the exact order title is not known.
- Ask for the named judgment or order, with certification only when needed.
Arapahoe County CV Versus C Dockets
Case codes stop a common wrong-court search. Read 2026CV01234 as a District Court civil class. Read 2026C001234 as a County Court civil class. Small claims, evictions, and County Court money cases ride the County Court track. Domestic-relations and probate sit in District Court classes, even though people often call them civil loosely, and municipal courts never decide ordinary private civil suits.
| Code or category | Court | Typical record |
|---|---|---|
| CV | Arapahoe District Court | District civil claims and related orders |
| C | Arapahoe County Court | Limited civil, eviction, and money matters |
| Small claims | Arapahoe County Court | Claim, service, setting, judgment, and later entries |
| Domestic or probate | Arapahoe District Court | Public access may be limited by record type |
The safest source is the issuing pleading or notice itself. Keep the leading zeros exactly as printed, and never rebuild the case number from memory.
Civil Dockets: What They Show
Think of an Arapahoe County civil Register of Action as a chronology. It names the parties and counsel. It notes the case type. It also lists service, answers, motions, minute orders, hearings, judgments, dismissals, costs, and post-judgment events. It is not a stand-in for the filed pleading or order. A line showing a filed motion only proves the event was logged. It does not show what the motion argued.
| Header | CV or C number, court location, division, filing date, and status. |
|---|---|
| Parties | Plaintiff and defendant, or petitioner and respondent, with public counsel data. |
| Case type | A category, not a complete account of the dispute. |
| ROA events | Filing, service, answer, motions, minute orders, settings, judgment, or dismissal. |
| Settings | Return date, motions hearing, case-management conference, or trial. |
| Later activity | Costs, writ, garnishment, transcript, or satisfaction entries when applicable. |
Getting filed images may take CCE access or clerk fulfillment. Even when part of the case header stays public, restricted financial and family content can remain hidden.
Arapahoe County C Docket Filings
The Arapahoe County Courthouse in Littleton plays a specific civil role. Colorado Judicial sends mandatory-e-file County Court C cases there. It also points to the site for small claims and money matters. You will find it at 1790 W. Littleton Boulevard, Littleton, CO 80120. Hours run weekdays, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except state holidays. The official Littleton courthouse source confirms the location. It also lists its services.
That page also makes plain the split between this Colorado Judicial Branch courthouse and Littleton Municipal Court. That city court keeps code matters on its own docket.
You can file an answer without showing up just to hand it in. The court also runs a virtual FED return and answer room. "FED" stands for forcible entry and detainer. It is the court process Colorado uses for an eviction case. A virtual link does not erase your duty. Follow the assigned court's appearance instructions.
What Cases Fill the Civil Docket
Civil dockets in Arapahoe County span more than one track. District civil cases cover higher-level private disputes and general-jurisdiction claims. County Court dockets hold money cases, evictions, and small claims. Domestic and probate matters use District Court classes. Access may be tighter there. The file can hold personal, family, medical, or financial data.
| Matter | Likely docket | Useful first item |
|---|---|---|
| District civil suit | CV | Complaint and latest scheduling order |
| County money case | C | Complaint, service entry, and answer |
| Eviction | County Court | Return setting and current order |
| Small claims | County Court | Claim, service, hearing, and judgment |
| Probate or domestic | District Court category | Public ROA plus clerk access guidance |
Let a current Colorado self-help source control procedure. Jurisdiction limits and filing rules change, so never guess them from an old docket entry.
Arapahoe County CCE Civil Dockets
Colorado Courts E-Filing works as both a filing path and a party-access channel. Self-represented CCE arrived locally on October 1, 2019. Anyone who opts into an eligible existing case gets round-the-clock access once the court accepts it. Searching is free under current pricing. Someone who did not file into the case may pay $15. That case-history access is kept for 14 days. Covered e-filing and e-service transactions are listed at $12. The official CCE access source walks self-represented parties through setup and use.
Remember that CCE is a party filing system, not an anonymous public docket search. The free hearing calendar and the paid statewide case-data channel are separate tools.
Hearings on the Civil Docket
A civil setting in Arapahoe County can take many forms. It might be a return date, motions hearing, case-management conference, or trial. Or it might be another event the court picks. The latest notice or minute order always controls. A calendar result may list the date and time. It may also list duration, appearance type, location, courtroom, and hearing label. It will not tell you all that happened before that date.
Civil docket flow: Complaint or petition › summons and service › answer › motions and disclosures › scheduling orders › hearing or trial › judgment or dismissal › post-judgment entries.
When an Arapahoe County hearing is continued or reset, the old ROA entry stays put. The docket is telling you to look for the later setting, not that the first one vanished. If a written order and the web calendar seem to disagree, call the division or Combined Courts before you act on either one.
Arapahoe County Civil Judgment Records
"The judgment" is not one document in Arapahoe County civil records. Colorado's state request form treats it as three. Order for Judgment is the court's decision itself. A Transcript of Judgment is a clerk-issued record used to evidence or docket that judgment. A Satisfaction simply records that the judgment obligation has been met.
The fees differ by paper. A Transcript of Judgment costs $25, and a certificate of Satisfaction costs $20. Certification or exemplification runs $20 per document. Add the copy charge for whatever channel you pick. When you do not yet know the title or date, request an ROA first. The Colorado civil fee-waiver source sets out the current waiver guidance. It helps people who cannot pay these costs.
Waiving a fee is a real option, not a workaround. The state's official waiver process sits alongside the civil access costs, and the clerk remains the source for a certified court document in Arapahoe County.
Who Can See Civil Dockets
Arapahoe County civil court information is presumptively open to inspection. A statute, rule, or order can say otherwise. What you can see remotely may be less than what a courthouse inspection shows. Domestic, probate, minor, personal-identifier, and sealed material may be unavailable or redacted. For those restricted categories, the clerk may ask for a government-issued photo ID. Proof of entitlement may be required too.
Access point: Chief Justice Directive 05-01 governs public, remote, facility-only, and excluded Colorado court information. The Colorado Open Records Act applies to many government records, but Judicial Branch rules control trial-court files.
Do not bring a civil docket request to the elected Arapahoe County Clerk and Recorder. That office does not hold civil court cases. The Clerk of Court does. Submit a request there, inspect at the proper courthouse, or use the state form. The ordinary online-form response target is three business days. That is a target, not a promise that a broad file gets copied all at once.
Arapahoe and Federal Civil Dockets
A civil dispute filed in federal court never shows up in the Arapahoe County state ROA. Federal district cases live in PACER and CM/ECF. Bankruptcy matters belong to the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Colorado. The two systems use different numbers, clerks, and fee systems. One docket search tells you nothing about the other. The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Colorado is the official source for federal bankruptcy filings.
That federal boundary is easier to spot than people think. A state CV or C search belongs with Colorado Judicial. A federal bankruptcy docket belongs with the federal court.
The numbering alone gives you a clue. A federal docket numbers each filed event and may link the document itself in PACER. An Arapahoe County state ROA instead uses Colorado case classes. It also uses the state clerk's event summary. Searching one system cannot rule out a case in the other. Check the caption, court name, and number printed on the first pleading. That settles where the case sits.
For state cases, filing details can be traced through Arapahoe County Docket Search. Certified civil orders still come from the state clerk.
